Description:
Batters have been training with Automatic pitching machines for years, but until now, pitchers have had to practice with costly human batters. Available in single-bat, four-bat (trains four pitchers at a time) and eight-bat (octobat, for larger teams) configurations, the ABM-10 provides rigorous training in all batting styles.
Performance characteristics:
Electric batting rotors are powered by a 9.8 liter diesel generator. Unit also features a 600-cell bank of environmentally friendly Lithium-Mercury batteries that can store power sufficient for several minutes of operation in case of unavailability of diesel. Rotors can also run directly off 440V (third rail) and three-phase 380V (Japan). Easy to use control panel includes on/off switch (nominal), knuckleball mode toggle, and warning light.
Dry weight 2375 - 6200 lbs, depending on configuration. Towable.
Safety Notes:
Due to buildup of Hollis forces in the accumulators, bats may suddenly begin moving at high speed in random directions at any time, even when unit is powered down. Helmets and/or individuals capable of absorbing 1200 foot-pound impacts suggested for performing maintenance, etc.
Reinforced concrete catcher and umpire enclosures recommended.
Options:
Four and eight-bat models come with a free shipping container of dirt for training mound deployment.
Police mode: can be used for crowd control with optional truncheon or shillelagh mounts (requires firmware update).

Little league and cricket adaptors also available.
